Register of deaths

Publish the deaths register openly, preferably via an XML API.

Opening this data would solve the problem of…

Computer systems, particularly Identity Management Systems, being unaware of the deceased status of a member, and continuing to transact with the member, their family or other contacts as-if they are not deceased.

Opening this data would solve this problem by…

Enabling Identity Management Systems to be updated automatically when a person is deceased.

Death information may be supplied to non-government organisations for the purpose of removing or suppressing the names of deceased persons from a database. Please refer to section 78F of the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 1995. If you require more information contact Births, Deaths and Marriages.
